Swiss abortion statistics

Under the banner 'Decline in teenage abortions" the  Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) has published Switzerland's abortion statistics for 2010 together with the levels for the first decade of the millennium.
Neuchâtel, 05.07.2011 (FSO) – In 2010, some 11,092 abortions were reported in Switzerland. 4% of them involved women living abroad. For the 96% of women living in Switzerland, this corresponds to a rate of 6.8 abortions per 1000 women aged 15 to 44. Since 2004, the abortion rate has been stable overall, but it has declined steadily among teenagers. These results come from the abortion statistics published annually by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
The figures show that in 2000-2001 the abortion levels exceeded 12,000, with a high of 12,418 in 2001 followed by a steady drop to 10,594 in 2006 and an increase to 11092 in 2010

Th FSO also issued a report on current population trends which shows that the end of 2010, the permanent resident population of Switzerland was 7,866,500, representing an increase of 80,700 persons compared with 2009. This growth of 1.0% is comparable to the increases recorded in 2009 and 2007. These are the first provisional findings of the Federal Statistical Office's (FSO) new Population and Households Statistics (STATPOP).
