Concern at Pontifical Academy of Sciences appointment

Life Site News reports that a noted Brazilian pro-abortion neuroscientist, Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, has – extraordinarily – been appointed to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.  In this regard, Msgr. Ignacio Barreiro (of Human Life International) is quoted as saying:

‘I am shocked to read that Dr. Miguel A.J. Nicolelis, a Brazilian professor, was appointed to this prestigious post with the Vatican.  He is on the record criticising those who want abortion outlawed and explicitly supporting homosexual unions.  … Let us hope that the Holy See will do some research into Dr. Nicolelis’ background.  We cannot allow the Pontifical Academy to be corrupted by ‘Catholics’ who claim to be personally against abortion, but who oppose the Church publicly on this and other crucial issues.  This falsity of faith has no place so close to the heart of the Church as she dialogs with the sciences – this is where clarity and truth matter most.’

You can write to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, expressing your dismay and disappointment at the appointment of Dr. Nicolelis to the Academy, at the following address:
